I had the great fortune of visiting Kathmandu, Nepal last year while I was in India, and I was floored by the city – the culture, sounds, sights, and most of all, the incredible people I met while I was there – you can see some images from my trip at the bottom of this post. By now, most everyone has seen the utter devastation caused by the Nepal earthquake that struck the Kathmandu region a few days ago. Current estimates are more than 5,000 people dead and thousands more homeless and displaced; estimates indicate the total dead could rise to 10,000. Aid and resources have just begun reaching remote areas of Nepal, and the prognosis is not good – entire villages have been completely wiped off the map.
In light of this terrible tragedy, I am again partnering with a few friends – ever ours and Utterly Engaged to raise funds to directly help victims of this awful tragedy. In 2013, together with many others, we helped to raise more than $19,000 to help victims of Typhoon Yolanda in the Philippines. We can do this and more again.
I am offering portrait sessions – couples and families – at a discount from now until May 12, 2015. These sessions can be redeemed at any time between now and December 31, 2015.
100% of the proceeds will be donated to ShelterBox to provide emergency shelter and lifesaving supplies to these victims – each ShelterBox is catered to provide aid for individual disasters, and each box (~$1,100) will help one large family. Typical items in a ShelterBox include tents, blankets, pillows, water purification systems, mobile gas stoves, utensils, activity packs for children, and more daily living essentials. If you can’t make use of a portrait session, please consider donating directly via For Nepal With Love.
